Supply Reservoirs
The City of Albany draws water from two primary upland reservoirs located in the Helderberg Mountains.
1. Alcove Reservoir
- Type: Primary Supply.
- Capacity: ~12 Billion Gallons.
- Characteristics: High quality, low turbidity water.
- Intake: Water flows by gravity to the Filtration Plant.
2. Basic Creek Reservoir
- Type: Secondary / Feeder Supply.
- Function: Flows into Alcove Reservoir via a connecting tunnel.
- Management: Used to top off Alcove during dry seasons.
