Chemical Delivery Procedures
This section covers the standard operating procedures for receiving bulk chemical deliveries.
!!! danger "PPE Required" Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn for all deliveries. If PPE is unavailable, STOP and notify a supervisor immediately.
1. Sodium Hypochlorite (NaClO)
- Tank Level Goal: Stop at 82" (Max 84" / 3600 Gallons).
- Process:
- Place a bucket under the Inlet Valve to catch residuals.
- CLOSE the Containment Spill Valve.
- Take a sample and test specific gravity.
- Connect hose and begin filling.
- Monitor tank level closely.
- After Delivery: Ensure driver blows out the line with air before disconnecting.
- OPEN Containment Spill Valve if no leaks occurred.
2. Hydrated Lime (Ca(OH)₂)
- Target Fill: 2,600 Gallons.
- Process:
- Ensure recirculation pumps are OFF.
- Connect delivery hose to the 3" extension.
- Verify flow path: Open valves #1, #2, #5; Close #3, #4.
- Start delivery. Press RED "STOP" button on VFD when full.
- Flush: Open valve #2a, Close #1a to fill second tank if needed.
3. PAC (PCH-180)
- Storage Sides: North (Lime Bin side) vs. South (Window side).
- Process:
- CLOSE Containment Spill Valve.
- Collect sample from driver.
- Verify receiving tank valves are OPEN and opposite side is CLOSED.
- Fill bins one at a time.
- Venting: Near end of delivery, open valves on the opposite side to allow air blow-off into the least full bin.
- OPEN Containment Spill Valve after completion.
